Who We Are
OKGN Swims was started in 2024 by myself, Bryson Carlyle, along with my sister Avery, with the goal of providing high-quality private swim lessons in backyard pools across Kelowna.
Growing up in Kelowna, we've spent many hours in and around the water, and we both share a passion for swimming and water safety. We wanted to create a program that helps kids build confidence in the water in a fun, personalized environment.
Teaching swim lessons is something we truly love doing. We take pride in working with families in our community, helping kids develop essential life skills while making great summer memories. With years of experience as swimmers and instructors, we understand the impact of one-on-one instruction and customized lesson plans tailored to each swimmer’s needs. Whether it’s learning basic water safety or refining strokes, we’re committed to making every lesson a positive, encouraging, and rewarding experience.
Our Instructors
Bryson Carlyle - Instructor & Lifeguard
I have over three years of swim instructing experience and four years of lifeguarding experience, with certifications from the Lifesaving Society in both Swim Instruction and Lifeguarding. Over the years, I’ve worked with swimmers of all ages and skill levels, adapting each lesson to fit their unique needs and abilities.
My passion for aquatics goes beyond just teaching—I love seeing kids develop confidence in the water and grow as swimmers. Outside of instructing, I play junior hockey, enjoy biking and outdoor activities, and love spending time with my dog.
Avery Carlyle - Instructor & Lifeguard
I have two years of lifeguarding experience and over a year of swim instructing experience, certified by the Lifesaving Society. I’m excited to continue teaching and share my passion for being active in and around the water.
I love seeing swimmers gain confidence and develop their skills, whether they’re just starting out or refining their technique. Helping kids progress in a fun and supportive environment is what makes teaching so rewarding for me.
Outside of swim instruction, I’m a high school student who enjoys playing hockey, and spending time outdoors.
